Why minky?
- Unmatched softness. It feels like high-end fleece or real mink, but it's completely synthetic, hypoallergenic and incredibly gentle on sensitive skin.
- Durable. Polyester resists fraying and doesn't shrink in the wash.
- Warmth without weight. It insulates well while staying lightweight.
A quick guide to precut fabric
Missouri Star sells fabric in bundles called precuts, all cut from one collection so the prints go together. Here they are, drawn to the same scale.
Jelly roll
A roll of about 40 strips, each 2.5 inches wide and 42 inches long.
Charm pack
A stack of 5 inch squares.
Layer cake
A stack of 10 inch squares.
Fat quarter
A piece about 18 x 22 inches, wider than a regular quarter yard.
Yardage is fabric cut from the bolt and sold by the yard, often used for backings and borders.
